I am glad you’ve noticed russians are different to the united states citizens. Now that you have reached that point, you should also notice that America is way bigger than New York and even more, the United States.

Unfortunately for the rest of the continent -from Canada to Argentina- the inability of some united states citizens to identify their own country on a map, creates the idea that there is no more in America than the US. Which turns out to void the rest of continent.

Every single time someone refers to the United States of America as America itself, they are showing two facts: their own ignorance -which can be traced to the failure of the US public education system- and discrimination -which can be traced to the secession war or further, and linked to the violence outbursts.

Think how many times on tv, ads, posts, chats and texts like the one this answer comes from, the name America is missused. That’s the same number of times you step on other people -almost an entire continent, except of you. That’s how deep your violence problems are. Because in fact, the discrimination by itself is the face of intellectual violence. Is the tip of the iceberg of a deeper problem.

Therefore, the racism problem won’t be solved by police officers carrying GoPros on their heads. Or by overriding the second amendment. The solution here as it looks to be, is similar to the denazification of the postwar Germany and Austria.

US society should take a close look to the culture it is constantly reproducing and find out those violent genes that make almost unreadable the violence that has been carried for so long. Until then, every time you feel the urge to use America referring to US, you should think how blind have you been and you should not, anymore.
